MEET THE DIRECTOR - Wes Martin
Wes Martin is the Founder and Executive Director of Sonoran Repertory Theatre and director of SRT's inaugural production of Much Ado About Nothing. He has worked in Arizona theatre for more than three decades as a director, actor, producer, and designer. He previously served as Co-Founder and Executive Producer of The Shakespeare Theatre, Co-Founder and Artistic Director of Off-Center Productions, and Associate Producer and Vice President of the Board of Directors at TheaterWorks.
His directing credits include Richard III, Macbeth, Henry V, Titus Andronicus, Twelfth Night, Copenhagen, Marat/Sade, Biloxi Blues, Chicago, Brigadoon, and The Fantasticks. Shakespeare has been a major part of Wes's career both onstage and off. As an actor, he has played Prospero in The Tempest, Macbeth in Macbeth, Puck in A Midsummer Night's Dream, Sir Toby Belch in Twelfth Night, and Benedick in two previous productions of Much Ado About Nothing.
Wes has also performed with Arizona Theatre Company, Phoenix Theatre, Arizona Broadway Theatre, Southwest Shakespeare Company, TheaterWorks, and other companies throughout the Valley. Recent credits include John Gustafson in Grumpy Old Men: The Musical at Arizona Broadway Theatre and Ebenezer Scrooge in A Christmas Carol at TheaterWorks. He holds a BFA in Theatre Performance from Tarkio College.
