Wes Martin

Founding Executive Director

Wes Martin brings to Sonoran Repertory Theatre more than three decades of experience as an actor, director, and producer in the Phoenix theatre community.

He is the co-founder of The Shakespeare Theatre, where he served as Executive Producer and helped establish one of the Valley’s primary classical theatre companies. His work there included producing and directing numerous productions from the classical canon, including The Life and Death of King Richard III, Macbeth, Julius Caesar, Henry V, and Titus Andronicus .

Wes also co-founded Off-Center Productions, where he continued to focus on text-driven work and collaborative ensemble-based productions. Earlier in his career, he held multiple leadership roles at TheaterWorks, including Associate Artistic Director and Vice President of the Board of Directors .

As an artist, he has worked extensively on stages across the Valley, including Arizona Theatre Company, Phoenix Theatre, and Arizona Broadway Theatre, with a wide range of performance and directing credits spanning classical, contemporary, and musical theatre .

With Sonoran Repertory Theatre, Wes is focused on building a sustainable, downtown-based home for classical theatre in Phoenix, grounded in strong storytelling, practical production, and a long-term commitment to the community.
